We received this report from the IWDG:
"On Thurs. 20th Feb Yachtsman, Peter Kinsella observed a group of 3 killer whales while sailing between Foul Sound, Inisheer, Aran Islands and Black Head Co. Galway. The encounter was of 45 minute duration and Peter had close up views of the group which comprised an adult male with a very tall 2 meter dorsal fin, and a smaller adult and what appeared to be a juvenile. There were a lot of trawlers in the area with associated seabird activity, which may explain the killer whales presence in the area.
The Strong South easterlies are bringing relatively calm seas to the area, however the visibility may not be great, but headlands between Hags Head and Black Head may well be worth a watch with a spotting scope and binoculars."
