Dony heads south

 L’île aux Moutons
Dony is on the move again ! After spending most of May off the isle of l’Ouessant at the northwestern-most tip of France, he was back in the nearby port of Le Conquet on the Brittany mainland for the best part of the last week of May. Dony has been spotted in Le Conquet on numerous occasions during the last two months and it seems probable that he first found himself in Ouessant after following the island ferry across from here – just as he used to follow the Blasket island ferry when we first encountered him in Dingle in 2001. After Le Conquet, Dony started heading south. Passing the Cap du Sizun / Pointe du Raz headland where he had met up with Jean-Floch, the Brezellec dolphin, back in March 2003, he picked up another island ferry at L’île du Sein on the 30th May and followed it all the way home to Audierne where the local divers were delighted to have him join them on their Saturday afternoon dive. That night it seems Dony continued on round the southern Brittany coast to L’île aux Moutons near the Glénan island group where he was identified on June 1st. The next day, June 2nd, he was seen at Beg-Meil on the mainland again. That’s about 120km – 150km, depending on which route he took, from Le Conquet.
