Hello everyone, I'm Abi, and I've recently been invited to join the Irishdolphins website team. I will be contributing to the news reporting, keeping readers up to date with the antics of our Irish dolphins- Fungie, Dony and Dusty. I'd also like to report any other dolphin/ cetacean-related news, though one of the best groups in the world doing this is the WDCS (Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society), based in the UK, so I wouldn't want to overlap too much with information on their website!
I have had an interest in cetaceans since I first visited Fungie in Dingle Harbour in 1998, aged 13. Since then, I have also experienced encounters with Dony and Dusty, and have decided to pursue a career in some form of wildlife/ marine conservation, so it is a great opportunity for me to be the website's news reporter now!
As I am currently living in Devon, Southwest England, any encounters would unfortunately be few and far between, so I'm asking all devoted Irishdolphins readers to help me a bit! If you've had an interesting encounter with one of the Irish dolphins and would like to write about it, I'd love to hear from you.
Please (mail me) if you have any news for inclusion on irishdolphins.com.
My first news item will follow shortly...
