News from Brittany May 2005

After three months' absence, Dony turned up again a couple of weeks ago at Cap Sizun in Brittany, once again in the company of the other interactive Breton dolphin, Jean F'loch. On numerous occasions since then, delighted swimmers have been able to enjoy the attentions of two dolphins at the same time, as Dony and Jean F'loch have played with each other and with the people in the water.

As far as we know, this is a unique situation. Interactive wild dolphins are currently rare enough anyway (we believe that the only places in Europe where these are now to be found are in Ireland and Brittany) but for two dolphins to be playing with each other and with human beings like this is almost unheard of. And it does seem to rather spoil the theory that interactive dolphins = solo dolphins = abnormal, dysfunctional dolphins...! More details to follow...
