Aidan was down a day earlier this week than usual, and was out in his laser dinghy. Fungie absolutely loves it! Aidan has been coming to visit Fungie every weekend for 10 years or so now and by the noise out of him he still gets off on it as much as he did the first day. You always know when the dolphin is with Aidan from all the hollering and shouting going on. Swimming/sailing with Fungie is not the quiet new agey affair that you may see on a TV documentary; it’s a much more brash and physical encounter.
With the backdrop of a beautiful sunset against the mountains it was a joy to watch Fungie jumping up against the billowing sail, over and over again. The boat is the focus of attention and for us swimmers we don’t really get too much of a look in. Though Aidan will bring the dolphin in to where the swimmers are, it’s a much more passive swim, we are but observers. Tomorrow we have a cunning plan, an early swim…….
